Born and educated in CornwalI in the UK. Later trained as an artist at Falmouth School of Art and Design. After working as a freelance illustrator for VW and Audi, I transitioned into teaching design and technology in mainstream education for 27 years. Throughout my career, I traveled extensively, documenting experiences in my sketchbook, which later inspired my paintings. Now, I dedicate my time to creating art in various styles, exploring new ideas. My Cornish business, Kreatus Design, celebrates fun, vibrant art that captures the essence of places and experiences, with a special focus on Cornwall, my cherished home.

    My Medium

I enjoy working with a variety of mediums, including acrylics, inks, and watercolors, when painting and illustrating. Sketching is a passion of mine, and I love capturing moments on the go, which I later expand upon using different mediums. I enjoy working with a variety of mediums, including acrylics, inks, and watercolors, when painting and illustrating. Sketching is a passion of mine, and I love capturing moments on the go, which I later expand upon using different mediums. I believe limiting myself to just one medium can feel restrictive, so I embrace the freedom of experimenting with diverse styles and techniques. In addition to two-dimensional art, I enjoy creating 3D sculptures, particularly using willow, which is flexible and allows me to bring imaginative ideas to life. Architecture fascinates me, and I often create models for clients, both physically and through CAD design. The transition from traditional art to digital design is a rewarding process, and I am fully immersed in CAD platforms like Procreate and the Adobe Suite, enjoying the creative possibilities they offer. This combination of traditional and digital methods enriches my artistic journey.

    General Themes and Fun Art

    Transfigure

Original Acrylic on Canvas (120x80 cm).

    Not framed.

The term transfigure refers to a dramatic change in form, appearance, or nature. I wanted to capture confusion in the apes mind as instincts clash with forced submission. The ape contemplates survival, adapting quickly, accepting the chains while yearning for the wild freedom now forever lost.

    Tiger

Original Pen and Ink on Art Board (27cm x 42cm).

    Not framed.

In this piece I wanted capture the amber eyes of the tiger. looking at you, fierce and calculating. Its gaze is intense, intelligent, with a quiet power that seems to pierce through you, commanding respect and awe.

    Quirky Bird

    Original Acrylic on Canvas  (60x120cm)

    Not framed.

Having observed the marsh close to my home in Cornwall and the long legged birds that live there, I wanted to capture the quirkiness of these birds. In the painting, the bird is standing tall on its elongated, spindly legs, exuding an air of surreal elegance. Its piercing eyes seem to stare directly into the viewer’s soul.

    Gathering of Giraffes

    Original Acrylic on Canvas (100x150cm).

    Not framed.

This vibrant painting features three whimsical giraffes, each with its own playful personality. I had the opportunity to see these beautiful creatures in the wild and made some sketches to capture personalities. Painting their long, elegant necks stretch upward, adorned with bright, colourful spots in hues of orange was fun.

    Elephants

    Original Acrylic on Canvas (250x100cm).

    Not framed.

Painting the acrylic on canvas of elephant bums was an incredibly enjoyable experience. I was inspired by a powerful moment I witnessed in Malawi, where a herd of elephants gathered around a watering hole. I quickly sketched the scene to capture the essence of that moment, knowing it had to be translated into a final painting. The sky a

    Bangkok Bikes

    Original Acrylic on Canvas (80x40cm).

While living in Bangkok, I was always amazed by how bikes ruled the roads. They were the primary mode of transportation. Capturing this vibrant scene took a few attempts but it finally engulfed the energy of Bangkok, where bikes weren’t just a mode of transport, but a way of life.

    Railay Beach Long-tails

    Original Watercolour (21x15cm).

When I lived in Thailand, the long-tail boats always amazed me. The skill of the drivers, effortlessly maneuvering these large engines with a prop shaft attached, was incredible. I often watched them at work, captivated by their precision. One evening, I sat by the beach and sketched a group of long-tail boats, capturing the moment
